This has been one of my favorite scents for well over ten years. The honey is sweet but not too sweet and never goes “musty” on my skin, as some honey can go. The Ylang blends with the fig and clove to add a soft spicy floral sweetness, and gives the patchouli something to keep it from being too grassy or hippie. Mind you, I love a deep dark hippie patch, but this blend is not that! It is timeless and just lovely. I really love to wear this in summer and warm weather, as it never turns cloying or dank on me.

The ylang-ylang is more than just a touch. I would never have guessed the other notes without reading, but the result is lovely.

I bought an imp but this —of all the scents I love from BPAL —must be what will become my signature scent. I recognized it like love at first smell 😉
Then when I read the ingredients I realized that it couldn’t have been different: I’ve been using Ylang Ylang essential oil as my perfume since my 20s. Mmmh, and I sometimes mixed it with olibanum or other times vetiver or patchouli.
So this is it! One of my favorite mixes of alo times, with added that extra touch to make it unique and absolutely inebriating… honey fig and clove, I can smell them all and the blend is simply heavenly ❤️

I chose an imp of this scent in my first order, and at first I didn’t think I would be able to wear it as the ylang ylang is so super potent. But then August rolled around with its steamy hot days and it was just what I wanted. To me it’s a dark scent, like flowers and dirt. I think I get mostly ylang ylang and patchouli, a scent I normally dislike but it really works well here to temper the sweetness. There’s a touch of honey, maybe, but this scent is sexy and dirty. I love it.

A word of warning: this stuff is INTENSE. A tiny dab is enough for a huge throw, so use caution unless you want to be that person who stinks up a room (in a good way, but still…)

I love the staying power of this – it lasts most of the day for me, but isn’t overpowering. A lovely blend of spicy and sweet.

I love Hetairae: green yet creamy, sweet honey enhanced so delicately with infused ylang-ylang (I have so come to appreciate her) and spicy patchouli. She is Skuld’s dark haired older sister, and kin to Nasty Woman. So many honey blends are “blond” or “naked” to me. The richness of the fruit, spices, and patchouli darken Hetairae up so that it “fits” me better. Another super-sexy-chic patchouli. Mmmmm-wwwwa-gawd…..

The bite of the honey comes through first. This might make sense to those of you who’ve eaten spoonfuls of raw honey and really had the scent just stuck in your sinuses. It’s that rich, sort of crunchy scent that only honey has. To me, it has the texture of that scent (if that makes any sense) but the scent of the patchouli/ylang-ylang mix. Not really getting the clove or fig across, though those might be layered in with the bit of lower sweet notes.

To compare, I wouldn’t call this a distinctly sweet scent, nor cloying, compared to others that I’ve reviewed like Elegba, and Antikythera Mechanism, which are both very rich and heavy, sweet, but not candy sweet scents.
