The gloomy Hades enriches himself with our sighs and our tears.
The Unseen. Eldest brother of Zeus, Husband of Persephone, Lord of the Underworld and Commander of the Demons of the Underworld, God of Wealth, whose epithets are Clymenus [Notorious], Eubuleus [Wise in Counsel], and Polydegmon [He who receives many / The Hospitable]. Though he is a dark, morbid and morose deity, fierce and relentless, and is stern, pitiless, and sometimes cruel, he is by no means an evil God. His justice is true, even-handed and absolute, and he is possessed of unbreakable loyalty, single-minded devotion to duty, and immense courage.
A dark, palpably sacred chthonic blend: black narcissus and cypress, stephanotis, opoponax, labdanum, onycha and ambergris.

this was a good one! it smells almost exactly like Darkness, only it doesnt go soapy on me. Happy to find it, because that one going funny made me 🙁

This scent brings to mind flowers left on a gravestone. It is a light, floral scent with a deep, dark, coldness to it. I’m not a fan of floral scents because they so easily become grandma-y… Hades does not fall into that realm. It’s the only floral scent I wear!

The opoponax was really nice in this, it helped to tone down the cypress. This one smells nicer dry than wet, because that’s when stephanotis gets to make its appearance.

I’m not terribly fond of this scent. At first, reading the ingredients, it sounded exotic and something that I would enjoy wearing. However, I don’t know if it’s the combination of different essences that compose this perfume or whether it is the persistent lingering scent of the black narcissus that remind me of dead grave flowers that just turn me off to it. One of the few BPAL scents that I don’t enjoy. Will have to wear it more often to see if I need to give this one a second chance.

This was one of my very first BPAL loves from back in 2005.
wet on skin: getting a nutmeg sort of smell. gradually getting sweeter and lighter. it reminds me of the dragon’s blood oil by Azuregreen. maybe that’s the myrrh, as they are both resins.
I really love this. it smells really sexy and dark. The florals and resins in this almost resemble ginger and clove. This gives Hades an ALMOST foody quality, although not quite. I have a very aged bottle and the yummy spicy resin incense is only deepened, any piney sharpness I experienced when I first got the bottle in 2005 has definitely mellowed.
