“And yet a restless, always unsatisfied craving for the nudity of paganism,” she interrupted, “but that love, which is the highest joy, which is divine simplicity itself, is not for you moderns, you children of reflection. It works only evil in you. As soon as you wish to be natural, you become common. To you nature seems something hostile; you have made devils out of the smiling gods of Greece, and out of me a demon. You can only exorcise and curse me, or slay yourselves in bacchantic madness before my altar. And if ever one of you has had the courage to kiss my red mouth, he makes a barefoot pilgrimage to Rome in penitential robes and expects flowers to grow from his withered staff, while under my feet roses, violets, and myrtles spring up every hour, but their fragrance does not agree with you. Stay among your northern fogs and Christian incense; let us pagans remain under the debris, beneath the lava; do not disinter us. Pompeii was not built for you, nor our villas, our baths, our temples. You do not require gods. We are chilled in your world.”
Along with Loviatar, she has become something of a Patron Goddess of all Dominatrixes, Wanda is the breathtakingly beautiful sable-wrapped marble queen of Sacher-Masoch’s fantasies. Her scent is a deep red merlot with a faint hint of leather, sexual musk and body heat over crushed roses, violets and myrtle.

This is hands-down my new favorite BPAL scent. Which means, naturally, that I spilled the entire imp I’d ordered all over me this morning and now I’m obligated to order the full size as replacement. (Let’s be honest, I was gonna anyway.)
Wet and dry is mostly the same on me: the leather and wine/red fruit dominate the fragrance, but after a couple hours there’s a sweetness there that isn’t as noticeable at first. It lasts a little while too, which I appreciate. It’s one of the few I can wear to work and still smell it when I get home.

This scent is one that needs a moment to settle down. Both in the bottle and immediately after application, I am overwhelmed by a fruity scent with warm, spicy notes underneath. It reminds me of gluhwein or a Yankee Candle. I did NOT like it. When it dries, the complexities emerge. It’s sweet, with modest notes of cherry pipe tobacco and leather. The floral notes do not leap out at me at all; they blend into the background. Could be because I am used to wearing my florals straight-up. This is a nice change of pace for me & I will be buying a full bottle!

In the imp: grape koolaid & spice.
Wet: Leather & grape koolaid. I like the leather. I like the koolaid. I don’t like them together.
Dry: The violet comes out a bit & the scent turns very purple. But, the koolaid “bite” isn’t going away 🙁
Aftermath (1 hour later): The bite is finally gone, but the leather has faded as well. It’s violets & sweetness & faint leather.

This really does smell like wine & violets. Violets are hit-or-miss for me (total shame). This isn’t working on my skin, but I like the vibe of it, and I think it would work for others who do really well with violets and wine. The leather is in the background, creating kind of a… I don’t know, almost like a buffer between this scent and your skin. It’s really interesting!
Where I’d wear this: Wine night with friends in winter

This scent definitely held a strong musky quality on my skin, but was infused with the merlot enough that it retained a hint of sweetness so the musk wasn’t overpowering. I liked its sensual quality, but it didn’t wear terribly long and the prettier aspects of the scent faded quickly to leave again, mostly musk. I think it conveyed the character of Wanda accurately, I just wish it had more staying power.

This is an unmistakably sexy scent that reminds me of a BDSM dungeon. When first applied it smells strongly of Merlot and leather but once it dries down the Merlot fades and you’re left with musky leather and what I would describe as dark chocolate notes. Very dark and very sexy.

This IMP was included along with my first order I just received a few days ago from BPAL and I love it more than any of the other 5 IMP’s I picked out for myself. I do get more merlot than anything else when wet, but it dries down to an extremely sensual and sexy scent on me. Pleasantly surprised!

In the imp: The merlot jumps out to my nose. It is the strongest note in the imp, but I can also smell musk, a bit of leather, and a hint of rose.
Wet: The merlot is the dominant note, followed by the musk and the crushed floral notes. The combination of the merlot and the violet makes the scent sweeter than it was in the imp. I am not particularly fond of violet, and it is starting to become more prominent the longer this sits on my skin.
Dry: Still wine dominant. The violet is still present. I can smell a faint hint of leather, just like it says in the description. I am not getting much of the other notes.
Verdict: This one is better than I thought it would be, but it really isn’t ‘me.’

Of all BPAL scents, this might be my favorite. On my skin it turns into wine and a little bit of leather. Very sexy.
