Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.
But he grew old
This knight so bold
And o’er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.
And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow
“Shadow,” said he,
“Where can it be
This land of Eldorado?”
“Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,”
The shade replied
“If you seek for Eldorado!”
Copal resin incense blowing through halls of dazzling gold.
On to Pieria he stepped from the upper air, and swooped down upon the sea, and then sped over the wave like a bird, the cormorant, which in quest of fish over the dread gulfs of the unresting sea wets its thick plumage in the brine. In such wise did Hermes ride upon the multitudinous waves. But when he had reached the island which lay afar, then forth from the violet sea he came to land, and went his way until he came to a great cave, wherein dwelt the fair-tressed nymph; and he found her within. A great fire was burning on the hearth, and from afar over the isle there was a fragrance of cleft cedar and juniper, as they burned; but she within was singing with a sweet voice as she went to and fro before the loom, weaving with a golden shuttle. Round about the cave grew a luxuriant wood, alder and poplar and sweet-smelling cypress, wherein birds long of wing were wont to nest, owls and falcons and sea-crows with chattering tongues, who ply their business on the sea. And right there about the hollow cave ran trailing a garden vine, in pride of its prime, richly laden with clusters. And fountains four in a row were flowing with bright water hard by one another, turned one this way, one that. And round about soft meadows of violets and parsley were blooming. There even an immortal, who chanced to come, might gaze and marvel, and delight his soul; and there the messenger Argeiphontes stood and marvelled.
Crisp sea air, kelp, and climbing vines, flame-singed cedarwood and juniper branches, cypress boughs, alder wood, violets, selino, parsley, glistritha, and white sage.
The intoxicating perfume of heady incenses wafting on warm desert breezes. Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia.
A lazy, warm deep green scent with a thick aquatic undertone: Spanish moss, evergreen and cypress with watery blue-green notes and an eddy of hothouse flowers and swamp blooms.

I tried my Cairo this morning. I am a HUGE fan of Kyphi, so I was really excited about trying this. When I first put this on there was a very distinct citrus scent to it. At first it seemed like lemon, then it became a more expansive citrus. It then quickly died down to something completely different. I thought at first that I noticed a hint of frankincense. But after having worn this for the last 6 hours, I’m really picking up on the honey, wine, raisins and heavier, sweet scents of kyphi. There is a very faint cinnamon undertone as well. It truly does remind me of kyphi.

I received this as a frimp. It smells quite different on me than others. The closest thing I can compare it to is “red fruit” incense that you might buy at the flea market. There is a bit of red fruit in there mixed with incense. Sweet and pretty.

I like this for the summer — it’s subtle but still very distinct.

I received this as a frimp. Hard for me to judge, since I’m unfamiliar with the scent of Kyphi. It seems very lemony, sweet, but not quite into the realm of a lemon drop. It has a bit of complexity that seems a little more like lemongrass, but lacking the strong herbal note. It’s not a bad scent, but I wouldn’t seek it out, as it’s rather unremarkable. Maybe it could be added to another fragrance to punch it up a bit?

I agree with another reviewer- this was very floral on me. It’s almost overwhelming when wet, but it dries down to a softer, sweeter, floral that reminds me of the little bath cubes my mother used when I was a child. I did not detect anything that I would think of as incense.

After a full body test, goes on as an extremely sweet floral when wet and on drydown kind of faded away. It is pleasant but did not last with my chemistry.
