“Most of the Gaelic poets, down to quite recent times, have had a Leanhaun Shee, for she gives inspiration to her slaves and is indeed the Gaelic muse — this malignant fairy. Her lovers, the Gaelic poets, died young. She grew restless and carried them away to other worlds, for death does not destroy her power.” – W.B. Yeats
The name translates to “fairy, love of my soul”. A vampiric spirit and a dark muse, the love of the Leanan Sidhe is both a gift and a curse. These eerily beautiful Irish spirits drain the sanity and lifeforce of the men they inspire to artistic greatness. Her kiss infuses a man with depth of vision and feeling, otherworldly passion, and a sudden and ineffable understanding of the unending sadness that plagues mankind. Her perfume is a crush of Irish herbs and flowers, Gaelic mists, and nighttime dew.

Wet: Sweet floral greenery
Just Dry: sweetness is deeper, greenery more wet and lush.Â
Later: darker, deeper, still lush and sweet and green… very edge of the woods at dusk in April.

Definitely calls to mind a more toned-down version of Irish Spring soap (which is what I prefer to wash with). Refreshing and sudsy with a lingering floral scent. I like it best when applied after showering, as it helps the feeling of cleanliness to really set in. I often take naps after showering, and by that time the scent has usually become gentler. If I keep my wrists near my face, it helps me to picture carefree and lighthearted things before falling asleep. Reminds me of an aromatherapy blend I’d mist my pillow with.

Not an unappealing scent by any means, but it’s a bit too similar to the type of perfumes one would find at a drug store. It’s a light, clean floral with a hint of sweetness and a bit of spice at the finish. Definitely unthreatening, it would be a good choice for those who aren’t quite ready to venture into more unusual fragrances.

This scent baffles and delights me. When I smell it from the bottle, it comes off as the stereotypical, mainstream floral perfume scent. I don’t really catch the herbs or mist… After it dries on my skin, I can barely smell it altogether. Like… honestly it’s so subtle, I don’t even notice when wearing it.
At least it is for me.
Even though *I* forget I’m wearing it, everyone I meet LOVES it, and can catch a whiff as soon as I enter a room. I’ve gotten compliments from my family, my barista, my friends, and random people I meet. I do field work in politics, and honestly, I think this scent makes me more approachable. People say I smell like flowers and air. The only reason I’m giving this scent four stars instead of five is because I wish I could smell it too!

For my personal preference, this scent is 3 stars, but do not be discouraged as it is quite lovely and the right person will swoon over it. In the bottle it is very floral. Wet on my skin, it was a delicate, subtle, very sweet floral with an herbal base and I absolutely adored it. It smelled like how I’d imagine a member of the Fae realm to smell and I was convinced I would buy a full size bottle. However, when it dried down, it became a powdery, almost soapy scent. It was not unpleasant, just really not for me; I’m not a powder/soap scent person. I prefer warm, green herbals with hints of floral. Until this dried down it was perfect.

For my first order from Black Phoenix, I ordered 6 imps of varying scents. All of them are quite lovely, but this one is my favorite of the batch. The herbiness is prominent, but subdued by the floral notes. I usually favor more floral forward scents, but I love this scent so much, I am rethinking this and now want to try other herby scents. It’s most appropriate for spring, but I think can still stand being worn year around. It’s a romantic scent with just a hint of malice. 🙂

It smells like spring and summer all rolled into one. Everytime I put it on it smells different. It reminds me so much of the old avon perfume called Hawaiian Ginger. Which takes me back to my chilhood and my mother… I love it. The dry down does kind of smell like Charmin toilet paper though lol. Not a bad thing just different.
