It was loud, and brash, and insane, and it was, in many ways, quite wonderful. People argued, haggled, shouted, sang. They hawked and touted their wares, and loudly declaimed the superiority of their merchandise. Music was playing—a dozen different kinds of music, being played a dozen different ways on a score of different instruments, most of them improvised, improved, improbable. Richard could smell food. All kinds of food—the smells of curries and spices seemed to predominate, with, beneath them, the smells of grilling meats and mushrooms. Stalls had been set up all throughout the shop, next to or even on, counters that, during the day, had sold perfume, or watches, or amber, or silk scarves.
A cacophony of curious scents: copaiba balsam, petitgrain, citrus rind, sinicuichi accord, betel nut, wasabi root, coconut palm, and wattleseed layered atop innumerable strange herbs, spices, and woods.
Carl Friedrich Lessing
Curls of monastic incense, moss-stained stone, snow-laden cypress, medicinal herbs buried deep in winter soil, and glittering icicles splintering from a gargoyle’s frozen scream.
A woolen robe infused with the scent of a vast, primordial forest: ancient trees, fertile soil, wild herbs, spring grasses, and burgundy pitch incense.
“Mister Bobo?”
“The man in the top flat. Mister Bobo. Fine old circus family, I believe. Romanian or Slovenian or Livonian, or one of those countries. Bless me, I can never remember them anymore.”
It had never occurred to Coraline that the crazy old man upstairs actually had a name, she realized. If she’d known his name was Mr. Bobo she would have said it every chance she got. How often do you get to say a name like “Mr. Bobo” aloud?

I really like this. I found it to be a sharp scent and I think I can detect black tea and green tea out of the four they mentioned. I can definitely smell some peony as well. It definitely brings a garden tea party to mind; very well done.

This is a soft scent. On me it smells a little bit like honey and the peony scent is gentle, not overpowering. It didn’t smell strong to me, but my husband said he could smell it on me when I walked by. I really enjoyed the warmth of this and I think it would be a fantastic winter scent.

This is lovely! It reminds me of a green tea scent that I wore in high school (it was by The Healing Garden if you’re old enough to remember that). The scent makes me happy, and my child came up to me and said, “You smell so nice. I just want to sit by you.” I received this as an imp, and kudos to the person who picked it for me. You really seemed to know just what I like.

If you love Dorian, you should try this. I think The Dormouse is kind of like Dorian’s sister, since to me it is a little more feminine. However, that the lemony tea and vanilla that comes through so strongly on me in Dorian is still present as well. I would say that The Dormouse is a little lighter than Dorian, not really in its throw or its power, but it feels a little lighter and more spring-y (probably due to the peony.) Many of the Mad Tea Party scents are among my absolute favorites from the GC, but this is a sleeper hit in my book, and a must-try for floral fans and tea fans

Definitely herbal, fairly soft, light and comforting. The peony is super strong with undertones of various brewing teas. I get a slight kick of lemon and a touch of powder in there. Not something I’d want to wear out (a bit too calm for my personality), but definitely works for relaxing at home or napping.

I recently received this as a frimp in my last order. Very light and pleasant tea/herbal blend. Though it doesn’t have much oomph on me, it is pleasant enough to keep the imp.

A lovely happy scent. It instantly made me smile and when I gave the bottle to my husband to smell he did the same thing. Happiness in a jar! I first pick up on the peony, like the big crisp blossom is popping out of the bottle at you. Followed by a lemony herbal scent that boarders on a citrus. Its a lovely bright perfume though I don’t feel the tea as strongly as I do in other Mad Tea Party scents but I don’t think i distracts from it at all.
