Luminescent, glowing, and otherworldly: green mandarin, neroli, honeydew, white amber, guava, freesia, white and green musks hovering over desert scrub, smashed wood, and the dry, biting scent of night air over the Groom Lake salt flats.

this is one of those… amazing, ok? first off- this is a scent that makes me think of lemonade during a Monsoon evening.. I don’t smell lemons or anything, tis just the mood it reminds me of.. and Monsoon is important to me. there is desertlands and freshness coalesced..
my Darling says, “when I close my eyes and smell this on him, I immediately envision a desert floor at night. a breeze stirs the scent of flowers, strange fruit, and an undetectable green haze with a faintest hint of salt. an intoxicating oil, that I want to close my eyes and smell all night. transported.”

This scent is wild! It conjures an immediate, atmospheric, geographical feeling of a hot, dry Australian bushland Summer for me. It’s like biting into under-ripe fruit at the end of a long bush walk.
Definitely has fruit/floral notes, but the dryness and woody, dusty elements make it a very unisex and versatile scent.

Love this scent. It reminds me of Mojave desert nights minus the dustiness. The sage and other fragrances blend well. Looking forward to when it is in stock again.

51(Wanderlust series)
This is a perfect green unisex scent, gravitating more towards masculinity. If you would ask me how green colour smells – this would be it: fresh, clean, sour and unripened. Guava, green mandarin and neroli are very pronounced at the beginning, bitter, very steady. Mojito cologne? I did not expect much complexity from it, but nevertheless, the scent transformed into a bit powdery amber, freesia and musk after 1h or so. Cologne…maybe! It does smell like a good cologne. Gets sea-salty and flat on my skin. If you Google “Area 51”, look at the colours – pale lake, humble greenery, some brownish heels and deserted land – you’ll get not exact, but a fair idea of this perfume. I will give it to my boyfriend to try!

Though I am a die-hard fan of florals, and especially any of BPAL’s rose-dominant scents, 51 is probably my all time favorite GC scent (close seconds would probably be Snooty Rose and Dorian, if I were pressed to pick other favorites.) To me, it smells a lot like Alien, though not an exact dupe. The fruits and the green musk are most prevalent on me, and they mingle in a way that makes this oil smell sexy without smelling flowery. I am not a fan of freesia at all, but in all of the years I have been wearing 51, it never really comes through on me. Once I use up the bottle that I have, I will absolutely buy another, because this is absolutely a Holy Grail scent for me.

A perfect first day of spring scent- like the first time of the season you can smell the new flowers heated by the sun. I love this! Light, positive, golden, beautiful, yet sophisticated. Reminds me of Chloé See (one of the non-bpal scents I enjoy). Luminiscent is a great word for this. A free-spirited, happy fragrance. I must buy a full-sized bottle. Thank you for making this, BPAL!

This is one of my all-time favorite BPAL scents. I first ordered this as an imp and then had to purchase an entire bottle. This is not a scent I wear all the time, but is the perfect fragrance when I am in the mood for something unique in the hot weather months of summer. For some reason, heat really activates this perfume. The perfect scent for hot summer days and nights. Wet Green fruit and grass dominate this scent underscored with a rather pleasant dry salty sea spray aroma with just a hint of floral. Overall, this scent is true to its name as there is something overall mysterious and other-worldly about the electric green wet/dry contrast of this perfume. A must have for hot summer nights spent stargazing on the beach or out by a lake.

I took a chance a few years back and ordered a bottle of 51 and fell in love with it instantly.
On my skin I definitely can smell the salt, some fruits and the freesia — which is my favorite flower — and neroli. When I read the description I remember thinking to myself how on earth would these scents go together, but they really do smell wonderfully on the skin.
It is a sophisticated, warm flowery scent which evolves on your skin constantly. I prefer to put on it in the evening for special occasions and the scent stays on my skin for the following day.
It is my favorite BPAL scent so far!

In the imp: Fruity and floral. I think I am getting the green mandarin, honeydew, guava, a bit of the neroli, and the freesia note (which I recognize from Butterflies, Flowers, and Jewels Attending).
Wet: Same, but the freesia note is stronger than the fruit notes on my skin. Then, it ends up taking an unpleasant turn. Perhaps it is the green musk combined with the freesia? I’m not sure. The neroli is also becoming more prominent, making the scent bitter. I am also getting a woody aspect to the scent now. However, the freesia remains the dominant note.
Dry: Freesia still reigns, but it is softer now. I’m not sure if it is the honeydew or guava behind it. I get the floral note, followed by fruit, and then a bit of light musk and dry wood.
Verdict: This one is a bit too perfume-y and dry for me. It isn’t bad, it’s just… not really my thing.

This is a wonderfully sweet scent, very floral at first and mellows nicely, smells almost fruity after an hour. It is a soft scent on me, it is almost hardly there after 4 or so hours, just a slight hint of floral / honey left, other then that I love it. Perfect scent for the summer.

I got a sample of 51 with my last order. I was dazzled by it. It is a sophisticated, sweet and classy scent. I really smell the Freesia and melon at first, but then the neroli and musk kick in and blends the notes out nicely. I think it will be my next purchase.
