This is the captured scent of a cold, moonless night, lost deep within the darkest wood. Haunting and desolate, this scent evokes images of fairy tale tragedy and half-remembered nightmares. Thick, viscous pine with ambergris, black musk, juniper and cypress.
An effervescent blend of crystalline champagne notes and sweet strawberry.
“The Pretty Era”, France’s Golden Time: an age of beauty, innovation and peace in France that lasted from the 19th Century through the first World War and gave birth to the cabaret, the cancan, and the cinema as well as the Impressionist and Art Nouveau movements. Sweet opium, Lily of the Valley, vanilla, mandarin and red sandalwood.
The fiery, volatile scent of cinnamon, thickened by myrrh, honeysuckle, and copal.

got this as a frimp, and before i give a review can i just say how cool that is? this was put in to my first bpal purchase along with two others!! thank you. i’ve heard so much about this company and after just one purchase i can see why. definitely a life long customer now. anyway, back to scent. this smells like having a chai tea or spiced pies at a christmas market. its warm and delicious. somebody else mentioned a spiced cabinet kind of vibe which i would have to agree with.

Got as a frimp & I love this! I thought it reminded me of proper gingerbread & when I saw the scent notes I see why! I’m definitely amping the allspice, clove (always do), cinnamon, & nutmeg. I can also pick up the tea notes. This is such a nice Autumn scent too! Will be getting a bottle.

Received as a frimp. My boyfriend loves spicy scents so he was happy to try it on. And it works very well on him! The cinnamon smells earthy and woody while the other notes creates synergistic warmth. To Me, the perfume reminds me of winter get togethers: sitting with friends, hands filled with spiked ciders and holiday treats. As another user stated, it does have a very light, peppery, tobacco scent. Will be keeping an eye out on this for a full bottle!

I got this in a sample size, and cinnamon and tea is what I smell very clearly. Very strong at first but fades to a nice Autumn scent. I just wish it lasted longer.

This is the first fragrance I’ve purchased from BPAL. It’s very old-timey and spicy. I was hoping for more black peppercorn in it, but as it dries and mellows it smells pretty much how I was hoping. Sweet, spicy, and very warm. It’s definitely gender neutral, but as a man I find it’s quite a lot like what I wanted. This is one I wouldn’t wear year-round, but definitely for autumn and winter it’s perfect. It’s tastefully spicy, you might say. I expected the cinnamon to be overpowering but it’s genuinely not, once it dries the fragrance transforms into more spicy tobacco-tea leaf than cinnamon. My only complain is I was hoping for more peppercorn.

My absolute favorite BPAL scent. Dark with spices but made slightly sweet with the addition of the tea scents – I get compliments on it every time I wear it. My only complaint is that it doesn’t last very long.

Sometimes the aroma is so weak I can’t even smell it on my neck. Other times, it is like the cowardly (and alcoholic) sibling of WRATH, another Black Phoenix Alchemy aroma. Like Wrath, this aroma focuses on hot spices, but unlike Wrath, there is a mild aroma of rum.
I do like the strong peppers and cinnamon and spices, but the rum turns me off, just like as in Wrath the feminine sweet smell that was unlisted yet added was a turn off.

Out of the vial it’s abit overwhelming and chaotic. It definitely makes me think of a spice cupboard or a chai tea with Cinnamon and nutmeg as the most prevalent scents. I am pleasantly surprised though as it dries on my skin. The sandalwood, tea leaf and maybe some of the tobacco come out more with the spices settling down. I would say its a gender neutral scent. I like it and will probably wear it again.
