   Made me smile when opening the imp: A herbal foresty scent but sweet like caramel! I would subscribe to the festive feel of this. It does not evolve much away from the initial sniff on my skin, but that is no flaw for me. It’s still complex enough to keep things interesting. Drying down it has a bit of musky note. It’s not too strong on the nose, no pine-fest, what I appreciate, but also has not a very long staying power on me. Still, will test this some more, it’s a phenominally unique composition!

   I bought this perfume a while back, and to this day it is my absolute favorite scent. It smells sweet without being obnoxious, smokey/woodsy and has a nice undertone of spice. It reminds me of winter and it is a rich tone while still being soft once on the skin.

   OMG OMG OMG
   Sorry, had to get that out. I saw this listed on the conifer imp set but decided to order it alone. I did not have high hopes but have been completely blown away. It’s amazing and rich and smokey. I smell like burning wood in a fireplace during Christmas! Why I adore smelling like this- I don’t know! Does it bother me- HELL NO, I smell GOOD!!!! This is one of my favorites from now on. Thank you!

   So here’s what I smell when I sniff my arm. First is incense. During Advent in the Catholic Church, the priest will walk up and down with an incense…pot (sorry, couldn’t think of the word). And that smell is definitely in there. Secondly, I smell dark, resinous pine trees. Third, there’s woodsmoke. And fourth…something spicy and Christmasy. I’m not sure which ingredient it is, but it smells like a Christmas wreathe. Or Yankee Candle at Christmastime. I wish I could explain it better, but I can’t figure out what it is.

   Anyway, as you can guess, I’m getting an Autumn/Winter vibe from this one. Sort of a Season’s Greetings feel, with a side order of solemnity and religion. For me, it’s more unisex, not masculine. But it is very strong, with the incense and smoke being the biggest takeaways…on me anyway. My skin tends to amplify dark notes and swallow green ones, so the pine might be stronger on others. I think it’s a scent I will definitely wear from time to time, especially during the the October through December range.

   Don’t be put off from what it smells like in the bottle. In my frimp it smelled AWFUL, and I thought, “what a waste of a free sample”. Then I tried it on and discovered that I really liked it.

   It’s getting four stars instead of five only because it IS such a heavy, strong scent. Definitely a “once in awhile” scent and not an “all the time” one.

   Hellokoi – September 27, 2016

   Smoky vetiver and wood ash with a bit of a sharp, menthol laden pine. So sharp and smoky that it makes my eyes water. Turns a bit sweeter in the drydown, with the clove and cumin, but the sweet spice ends up reminding me of beef jerky, oddly.
   Troll is like a pine forest in the midst of burning down. It’s a smoky, sharp, rather fascinating pine blend. I sniff this and can practically see the limbs of pine trees, sticky with sap and smoldering flames. It’s one of those scents that I can appreciate and am glad to have tried, but I could never actually pull off wearing this.

   ravenwood – August 8, 2016

   My skin turns everything extremely sweet and powdery, so this actually dries down to a nice spicy, somewhat incense-y scent on me. The vetiver makes it “stick” for a while, too, which is a bonus; most scents without vetivert disappear into my skin in an hour or two. This lasts a good six before fading. So far, this one is my favorite, with Czernobog as a close second.

   VetchVespers – December 30, 2014

   Troll, IMO, is definitely a male scent. In the bottle, it is acrid, with an oaky, alcoholically smell that makes me think of whiskey. It actually makes my eyes burn when I sniff deeply.

   On the skin though, it quickly starts to settle down. I get the cumin notes, with a soft pine and a slight bitterness that I think must come from the basil. Eventually, on me, the vetiver starts to seep in, kind of blending and giving the sent some warmth. It stayed more cuminy on my husband. Over all, it’s a very pleasant, comfortable, unusual woodsy scent. More of a lumberjack husband who comes home to roughhouse with the kids and bring you hot cocoa than a Don Juan or dapper gentleman cologne.

   My one grievance is that it doesn’t seem to last very long, but if you like woodsy scents, I’d definitely check it out.
