The devil’s herb, which he cultivates with skill and pleasure. According to lore, the spirit of this plant may take the form of a breathtaking, achingly beautiful woman, deadly to behold. This scent is a tribute to such a dark and magnificent plant: a rich green and floral blend, earthy and haunting.

Rappaccini’s Garden

Ascending to his chamber, he seated himself near the window, but within the shadow thrown by the depth of the wall, so that he could look down into the garden with little risk of being discovered. All beneath his eye was a solitude. The strange plants were basking in the sunshine, and now and then nodding gently to one another, as if in acknowledgment of sympathy and kindred.

It goes without saying that the Rappaccini’s Garden and Apiary scents do not truly contain poisonous plant materials. Artistic license, my friend. Artistic license.

I don’t get mouthwash or Vick’s as some others have reported, but it does start off minty. Although I didn’t pick this one as my signature scent, I really love it. I couldn’t stop smelling my wrists – such a complex scent! It’s hard to say how long the scent lasts, as it turns out I do a lot with my hands and I’d used up the imp before I figured this out, but I am ordering a full size bottle to use as a house scent.

Sharp acerbic scent in the bottle that warms up slightly on the skin and imparts a chypre-like note. Very very lovely green, light scent that’s perfect for a green-fresh spring or summer scent. I actually feel this would be a good unisex scent, but it airs on “pretty.”

On me this scent went to a darker scent fast. The Minty scent faded very quickly, leaving a lot of floral and woods behind. I love the description of this because it is exactly what it smells like, giving the idea that I was lost in a witch’s garden after I apply it

imp: Pinesol. Not simple green, but pinesol.

wet: Herbal essence shampoo. Not the new line, but the old one with the hippie lady in the water on it. There’s a strong woody scent here too. less pine, more cedar

    dry: woody & some green

    aftermath: woods

To me this is summer in a bottle. It starts of sharp and almost cool and then it gently fades into a this almost tropical humid scent. There’s earth and green growth there. It’s almost as if they’ve bottled an oncoming summer storm in a lush garden.

This might be my second favorite, next to Black Annis. A classic, clean scent that smells like spruce and tree sap.

This scent is so green! It’s a wonderful spring/summer scent with a lovely balance of new growth and the earth that growth came from. Smells like laying in a garden. I would wear when I want to feel more connected to nature and it’s sunny out.

It started off a bit sharp, almost, vaguely reminiscent to me of Vick’s Vapor rub, that sort of mint-y/menthol-y smell that tingles in your nose–but still very green. That faded nicely into a very soothing and soft scent, between green and floral. I can imagine this might be overwhelming if one slathered it one, but when applied with a light hand, it’s very pleasant.
