I grieve and dare not show my discontent,
I love and yet am forced to seem to hate,
I do, yet dare not say I ever meant,
I seem stark mute but inwardly do prate.
I am and not, I freeze and yet am burned,
Since from myself another self I turned.
My care is like my shadow in the sun,
Follows me flying, flies when I pursue it,
Stands and lies by me, doth what I have done.
His too familiar care doth make me rue it.
No means I find to rid him from my breast,
Till by the end of things it be supprest.
Some gentler passion slide into my mind,
For I am soft and made of melting snow;
Or be more cruel, love, and so be kind.
Let me or float or sink, be high or low.
Or let me live with some more sweet content,
Or die and so forget what love ere meant.
Inspired by the tragic, ill-fated love of Queen Elizabeth I and the Earl of Leicester. This is our modernization of a 17th-century perfume blend favored by British aristocracy: rosemary, orange flower, grape spirit, five rose variants, lemon peel, and mint.

This scent is very lovely! It is delicate, a bit mysterious, and very feminine. The words “shy” comes to mind. At first, it smells like violets and lilac. I don’t get much lavender at the start. As it dries, the sandalwood becomes more prominent with lavender and violets in the background. Overall, a wonderful scent and one of my favorites.

Oh, I love Veil so much! It smells nice enough in the bottle, but it really comes alive on your skin. One small dab is enough.
It’s a beautiful, mature floral on me. There’s a lovely lilac sweetness and a touch of orris keeps it fresh rather than heady. The sandalwood isn’t overpowering, but it definitely becomes more noticeable with time. The gardenia isn’t noticeable at first, but it also comes out to play later in the day.
There is also a lovely “clean, fresh skin” quality to this that I absolutely love.
The fragrance itself is evocative of peachy skin, long lashes and ripe lips close to your ear whispering secrets. Mysterious and enigmatic indeed.

Since perfume is so subjective, my 5 stars is based on the scent staying with me throughout the day and not irritating my sensitive skin or giving me a headache. When I first put on Veil it reminded me of a perfume I used to wear years ago, Poison. I eventually stopped wearing Poison because it became too sweet and cloying for my tastes. But Veil was a lovely, less cloying reminder of that scent, with a forward nose that brought candied grapes to my mind. It mellowed and became more pleasing throughout the day.

Laaaaavenderrrr.
When still wet, this is quite tangy, actually! But it dries down to a very soft floral. Very feminine and pretty.

In the imp all I smell is the lilac, lavender and violet, so I initially assumed this would just be a light floral. However, after about an hour on my skin the sandalwood took main stage. For the rest of the day the Veil became a powdery sandalwood fragrance dominating over a bed of soft florals. It had longevity, but this is not the scent for me. However, lovers of sandalwood for probably really like Veil.

Veil is one of those sleeper scents, I’m not sure about it in the bottle but as soon as it dries on the skin I’m in love. Veil is an apt title. Its a hard to place scent that delicately floats around you. There is a powdery quality from the violet and lilac while the gardenia and ylang ylang give a fleshy earthy feel. It is defiantly a your-skin-but-better kind of scent.
