Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.
But he grew old
This knight so bold
And o’er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.
And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow
“Shadow,” said he,
“Where can it be
This land of Eldorado?”
“Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,”
The shade replied
“If you seek for Eldorado!”
Copal resin incense blowing through halls of dazzling gold.
Luminescent, glowing, and otherworldly: green mandarin, neroli, honeydew, white amber, guava, freesia, white and green musks hovering over desert scrub, smashed wood, and the dry, biting scent of night air over the Groom Lake salt flats.
The intoxicating perfume of heady incenses wafting on warm desert breezes. Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia.
Venerable Victorian Tea Rose… twisted, blackened and emboldened with wickedness.

I got this as a free imp with my purchase, which is great since I’d never have bought it myself. It smells lovely once it’s on the skin – slightly musky with a nice and not overbearing sweetness, good unisex scent – but I don’t get the same sense of “yes, this is for me” that I get with some other scents. I’m sure it will be lovely on others, though. It’ll be very interesting trying to get my fiance to try it since he doesn’t care for perfumes. 5/5

In the bottle, Kyoto reminds me a bit of NyQuil. I get all three notes distinctly, the licorice and cherry reminding me of syrup and the sandalwood giving it a medicinal quality. That said, my nose was a bit intrigued. Definitely different.
On my mom, this smelled awful – like she’d splashed on some ouzo. On my husband, the licorice and sandalwood balanced better, and Kyoto smelled pleasant but not awesome. On me I LOVE IT. The sandalwood comes out the most with traces of the anise in the background and a hint of sweetness added by the cherry blossom. Soft and exotic and gender neutral. On me it lasts 8+ hours. I will be getting a full bottle of this and would rate it a 5 except that it seems to vary so much with body chemistry. Good luck!
