  • Bear Moon Perfume Oil

    The bear puts both

arms around the tree above her

    And draws it down as

    if it were a lover

    And its chokecherries

    lips to kiss good-by,

    Then lets it snap back

    upright in the sky.

    Her next step rocks a

    boulder on the wall

    (She’s making her

    cross-country in the fall).

    Her great weight

creaks the barbed wire in its staples

    As she flings over and

    off down through the maples,

    Leaving on one wire

    tooth a lock of hair.

    – Robert Frost

Black-brown fur rubbed against ochre bark, shaking off the last snows of winter. A tangle of maple branches and the crunch of dry leaves. Claws dipped in raw honey, clutching honeycomb, dripping with the juice of wild berries.

    Beaver Moon 2019 Perfume Oil

Traditionally, Beaver Moon is named thus for a very obvious reason: during this time of year, beavers are hard at work building their dams and preparing for the onset of winter. Not here at BPAL, though! – it’s our quasi-annual opportunity for absurdity and campiness.

This year’s confection is a creamy coffee cheesecake with a hint of milk chocolate.

    Beaver Moon 2022 Perfume Oil

I’ve been following a lot of beaver feeds on social media lately (interpret that however you will), and ngl – it’s one of the anchors that has kept me buoyant during tough times. Thanks for the boost, beavers.

  • Death Moon Perfume Oil

    Do not stand

    By my grave, and weep.

    I am not there,

    I do not sleep—

    I am the thousand

    winds that blow

    I am the diamond

    glints in snow

    I am the sunlight on

    ripened grain,

    I am the gentle,

    autumn rain.

    As you awake with

    morning’s hush,

    I am the swift,

    up-flinging rush

    Of quiet birds in

    circling flight,

    I am the day

    transcending night.

    Do not stand

    By my grave, and cry—

    I am not there,

    I did not die.

  • Hay Moon 2020 Perfume Oil

The moon was but a chin of gold
    A night or two ago,
And now she turns her perfect face
    Upon the world below.

    Her forehead is of amplest blond;
    Her cheek like beryl stone;
Her eye unto the summer dew
    The likest I have known.

    Her lips of amber never part;
But what must be the smile
Upon her friend she could bestow
    Were such her silver will!

And what a privilege to be
    But the remotest star!
For certainly her way might pass
    Beside your twinkling door.

    Her bonnet is the firmament,
    The universe her shoe,
The stars the trinkets at her belt,
    Her dimities of blue.

Hay absolute, tall grasses, dry honey, mallow, cardamom, amber, oat cakes, and wheat.

    Hunter Moon 2019 Perfume Oil

As the winter encroaches, the time comes to embark on the last Great Hunts of the year. The deer are fattened, the fields have been reaped, and the light of the full moon illuminates the wild creatures that have come out to glean. This scent is redolent of night skies, falling leaves, and the high-pitched tension and release associated with the Hunt. A blend of traditional lunar oils touched with dry leaves, autumn bonfires, warm mulled wine, feral, animalistic notes and the chill of approaching winter.

    Quiet Moon 2023 Perfume Oil

There is a silence where hath been no sound,
There is a silence where no sound may be,
In the cold grave—under the deep deep sea,
Or in the wide desert where no life is found,
    Which hath been mute, and still must sleep profound;
No voice is hush’d—no life treads silently,
But clouds and cloudy shadows wander free,
That never spoke, over the idle ground:
But in green ruins, in the desolate walls
Of antique palaces, where Man hath been,
Though the dun fox, or wild hyena, calls,
And owls, that flit continually between,
Shriek to the echo, and the low winds moan,
There the true Silence is, self-conscious and alone.

  • Sprouting Grass Moon 2020 Perfume Oil

Continuing with our recent themes of hope and renewal, we present Sprouting Grass Moon – a scent celebrating the emergence of the first blades of grass after a long winter.

Spring grass, there is a dance to be danced for you.
Come up, spring grass, if only for young feet.
Come up, spring grass, young feet ask you.

Smell of the young spring grass,
You’re a mascot riding on the wind horses.
You came to my nose and spiffed me. This is your lucky year.

Young spring grass just after the winter,
Shoots of the big green whisper of the year,
Come up, if only for young feet.
Come up, young feet ask you.
